About Us

If you are still just checking out this "church thing" and investigating the claims of Jesus Christ, thank you for allowing us to help you along the way. Or if you are a committed Christ-follower who is looking for a place to mature in your faith as you serve others, you are also welcome. Our prayer is that, no matter where you are along your journey, you will feel right at home here.

Our promise to you:  1) the message will be relevant; 2) the worship will be contemporary; 3) we won't beg for your money; and 4) your kids will love it.

About Evangel Worship Center

What kind of church is Evangel Worship Center?

EWC is an evangelical, Charismatic church. We are part of the Foursquare family of churches and we believe and teach the historic truths of the Christian faith. You can read our statement of belief on this page (below).

What is "Foursquare", and how did the interdenominational church get started?

Foursquare stands for 4 important foundational truths about Jesus Christ:  He is our Savior, our Baptizer with the Holy Spirit, our Healer, and our Soon Coming King.  Click here to view how we got started and see a history of our very first church, Angelus Temple in Los Angeles, California.

Who is the President of the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel?

Jack Hayford is our President.  You can learn more about him on these websites:  www.foursquare.org and www.jackhayford.org

Who is the pastor of EWC?

Pastor Tim & Deb HallTimothy Hall is the Pastor of Evangel Worship Center.  Born in Minnesota in 1956, he was ordained as a minister of the gospel in 1977 and has ministered in 37 states as an evangelist.  Pastor Tim pioneered and pastored churches previously in Kentucky, Idaho and Arizona. The Halls came to pastor EWC on Father's Day 1995.  Tim and his wife, Debra, were married in May 1976 and they have 4 adult children and 3 grandchildren, all serving Jesus Christ today.

When does EWC meet?

We start our Sunday mornings with a time of pre-service fellowship at 9 AM. Our main Sunday morning service, the Celebration Service, begins at 10 AM.  Small groups meet at various times and places throughout the week. See the Calendar page for more information on schedules and special events.

What are the Sunday services like?

Our 10 AM Celebration Services include inspirational praise and worship and practical teaching. You can check out Pastor Tim's sermon notes from previous Sundays by clicking Sermons.

How long do the Sunday services last?

The 10 AM Sunday Worship Service lasts for approximately 90 minutes.

What should I wear?

Casual clothes are the norm at EWC. We wear anything from blue jeans to business casual. You can wear a tie if you like, but you sure don't have to.

If I visit on Sunday, will I be singled out in any way?

You are our guest when you visit EWC and we won't do anything to cause you embarrassment. You won't be asked to say anything or give anything. We would love for you to fill out a visitor's card, but you certainly don't have to. We will be available to answer any questions you have and to show you around the facility if you want us to.

What will my kids do on Sunday mornings?

We provide loving and safe environments for your children to learn the Bible during the Sunday morning Worship Service. Our nursery, for infants though age 3, opens at 9:50 AM on Sundays. Children ages 4 through 11 are dismissed to their Sunday School classes about 10:15 AM.  Our Sunday School program is excellent and we endeavor to achieve a "gold standard", with teachers who have been finger printed and background checked for your child's protection.  Students are given points for being on time, attendance, knowing their lesson, memorizing scripture, class participation, bringing an offering, bringing their Bible, and bringing a friend.  At the end of each quarter, a student with the highest level of achievment from each class will receive a reward on Family Sunday.

Does Evangel Worship Center have a mission statement?

Yes.   Our church's name explains our mission:  Evangel, because we are called to evangelize the Gospel to our community and to the world; Worship, because we are called to love the Lord with our all our heart, soul, mind & strength while worshiping God in spirit and in truth; and Center, because we are called to love each other, meet together often for fellowship, and our center is a place of training to do all these things.  Therefore, our purpose is five-fold:

1.  We exist to communicate God's word by evangelism, showing people the way to knowing Jesus Christ as their Savior.

2.  We exist to celebrate God's presence, or worship.

3.  We exist to demonstrate God's love through ministry.

4.  We exist to incorporate God's people into His family, which is fellowship.

5.  We exist to educate God's people, which is discipleship.

What We Believe

Basic Theology

  • We believe the Bible is God-inspired (2 Timothy 3:16,17).
  • We believe God is Triune: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (2 Corinthians 13:14).

Becoming a Christian

  • We believe that man was created in the image of God, but that by voluntary disobedience he fell from perfection (Romans 5:12).
  • We believe that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us, signing the pardon of all who believe on Him (John 3:16; Romans 5:8).
  • We believe that we have no righteousness and must come to God pleading the righteousness of Christ (Ephesians 2:8).
  • We believe that upon sincere repentance, and a whole-hearted acceptance of Christ, we are justified before God (1 John 1:9).
  • We believe that the change which takes place in the heart and life at conversion is a very real one (2 Corinthians 5:17; Galatians 2:20).

Doctrine

  • We believe that divine healing is the power of Christ to heal the physically sick in answer to the prayer of faith (James 5:14-16).
  • We believe that the Holy Spirit has gifts to bestow upon the Christian; and that we should show spiritual fruit as evidence of a Spirit-filled life (1 Corinthians 12:1-11; Galatians 5:22).
  • We believe that the Baptism with the Holy Spirit is to endue the believer with power; and that His incoming is after the same manner as in Bible days (Acts 2:4).
  • We believe that baptism by immersion is an outward sign of an inward work (Matt. 28:19). We believe in the commemoration of the Lord's Supper by the symbolic use of the bread and juice of the vine (1 Corinthians 11:24, 25).

The Church

  • We believe that the method ordained of God for the support and spread of His cause is by giving of tithes and free-will offerings (Malachi 3:10; 2 Corinthians 9:7).
  • We believe that soul winning is the most important responsibility of the Church (James 5:20).
  • We believe it is our sacred duty to identify ourselves with the visible Body of Christ (Acts 16:5; Hebrews 10:25).

Daily Living

  • We believe that it is the will of God that we be sanctified daily, growing constantly in the faith (Hebrews 6:1).
  • We believe that rulers should be upheld at all times except in things opposed to the will of God (Romans 13:1-5).
  • We believe that the experience and daily walk of the believer should never lead him into extremes of fanaticism (Philippians 4:5).
  • We believe that it is the will of God that we walk in the Spirit daily (Ephesians 4:30-32).

The Future

  • We believe that the second coming of Christ is personal and imminent (1 Thessalonians 4:16, 17).
  • We believe that all shall stand some day before the judgement seat of God, and there receive eternal life or death (2 Corinthians 5:10).
  • We believe that heaven is the glorious eternal home of born-again believers (John 14:1-3; Revelation 7:15-17).
  • We believe that hell is the place of eternal torment for all who reject Christ as the Savior (Revelation 20:10,15).
